I am an artist working in ceramics and mixed media, living and working in the village of Minnigaff near the town of Newton Stewart, close by the Galloway hills in south west Scotland.

The source for the inspiration of my work comes from studying the hermetic forms in ceramic from China and Japan to ceremonial work from India and West Africa.

I use both stoneware and earthenware clay in my work. A crank body of Camberwell Buff is used in the stoneware pieces for its texture, which I enhance by scraping and sanding, before applying a series of oxide washes and firing to 1260ºC in an electric kiln. I keep the glaze to a minimum to emphasise the texture of the clay body.
