Kay Ribbens is a textile designer who specialises in hats, working from her studio in the very heart of Dumfries and Galloway. Kay originally studied drama in London and worked for some years in the theatre. Her love of textiles and creative flair resulted in the production of wearable sculpture.

'Each hat is designed for maximum visual impact. Colour, texture, flexibility of fibre, function, wearability and overall design are brought together to create a beautiful object. Colour is very important. The process of mixing, moving and matching different shades and tones until the desired result evolves is very exciting. The final texture is constructed by the type of yarn and size of hook, combined with variations in tension, in order to mould and sculpt the chosen style. Many different mediums are used including wool, acrylic, silk, raffia and linen.'

All Kay's hat collections are unique, unusual and distinctive. Classical and contemporary styles designed for both women and men.
