What started as a hobby has grown into something of a passion.

I started making baskets after attending several courses here in Scotland and also in Ireland. I tend to favour strong traditional styles and designs admiring their functionality and longevity. I use a combination of Somerset rods and materials grown here on my small willow bed, which is coppiced annually providing a renewable source of materials. I gain great pleasure growing my own willow, admiring the vibrant colours in the growing rods and the mellowing hues as the rods dry which once incorporated into a basket make each one distinctive.

I am a member of the Scottish Basketmakers Circle and with them I was involved in Artisan 2002 and more recently at the Scottish Country Living Fair. I have taught at beginner level. I sell my work in local craft shops and take commissions.
